The Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) is a modern, leading-edge trade association representing the UK garden industry.

It offers a cost-effective and comprehensive range of business support and development initiatives to 1,600 businesses and 2,700 outlets representing retailers, growers, landscapers, service providers, manufacturers and distributors of garden materials.

The HTA seeks to offer the best possible services at the best possible price for its members. One of these support services is a dedicated legal advice line to help with any regulatory queries its members may have.

The organisation approached Alcumus in February 2014 to looking for a partner to provide additional services to support its members’ advice line in terms of health & safety and human resource management.

Helen Cranstone is the Membership Services Manager for HTA. She explains the reason for introducing these additional services: “We already had a suite of free advice lines covering all areas of business for our members. However the addition of dedicated HR and H&S support further extends this offering and has proven to be one of the most used and valued support services we offer.

“Alcumus was clearly the best match for us in terms of value for money and customer service. We were particularly attracted to Alcumus’ unique business model which provides a very personal service where members can build up relationships with the advice line experts rather than the typical ‘call centre’ set up offered by other suppliers. We were also particularly pleased to see Alcumus’ desire to co-operate with our existing CRoP HR and H&S partner which is run separately from the Advice Line scheme.

This has made a huge difference to HTA as the new advice lines have been seamlessly integrated into our existing facilities. Since the implementation of the new advice lines on we’ve been really pleased with the excellent advice which has been given to members who have used this service.”
