Energy management lightbulbs

By 5th December 2015 companies with over 250+ employees or an annual turnover of €50m and balance sheet of €43m, will need to comply with the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Regulations.

Under the ESOS scheme qualifying organisations will be required to determine the total energy use from its business operations (including building energy use, transport energy use and industrial processes).

They will also be required to carry out energy efficiency auditing of 90% of this energy use, which must be covered by:

  • ESOS compliant energy audits
  • Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
  • Green Deal Assessments
  • ISO 50001 accredited energy management system

You will also be required to calculate the amount of energy used per employee and identify potential measures that could save energy. These initial audits will need to be undertaken by 5th December 2015.
