Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) Forum was established following the introduction of revised Construction (Design & Management) Regulations in 2007. Facilitated by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), founder members included representatives from Contractors’ Health & Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS), Constructionline, Exor and the National House-Building Council (NHBC).
The Forum acts as an umbrella organisation facilitating mutual recognition between the myriad of Health & Safety schemes that are operating across the construction supply chain and related industries.
Demonstrating your Health & Safety competencies is increasingly becoming a precondition to doing business in your industry sector. Certifying your Health &Safety arrangements can provide a competitive advantage and can help to open up new areas of opportunity.
Recognition between the SSIP Forum members, it is intended, will impact positively on the onerous and costly burden of repeated competency assessments (and audits) essential to achieving the requisite purchasing criteria of different public and private sector buyers.
Achieving certification to OHSAS 18001 with ISOQAR (SSIP Forum Member) can reduce the need to be repeatedly assessed under numerous schemes. Your organisation will be listed on the SSIP Portal giving buyers confidence in your Health & Safety credentials and certification. OHSAS 18001 certification is recognised by all other member schemes including; CHAS, Constructionline, Exor and the NHBC.
Since 01 January 2014 all new OHSAS 18001 clients are being asked if they require inclusion to the SSIP scheme.
