The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) have recently announced that the much awaited Final Draft International Standard (FDIS) for ISO 9001:2015 has been delayed until the Summer 2015.  The final committee vote for publication is due to take place in July, with publication of the standard (PD) now set for later in the year – still currently planned for the end of September

ISO 14001 FDIS is due out in May with the PD also due for release at the end of September.

Alcumus ISOQAR are currently preparing our systems and auditor training to be able to audit against the new standard from the date of final publication.  Accredited certificates against the revisions will be available once Alcumus ISOQAR achieve accreditation.

We are working closely with UKAS to ensure accreditation at the earliest opportunity, aiming for this to be achieved within 2 or 3 months of the release of the PD.

Please don’t worry if you feel that you won’t be ready, or indeed have no desire to be audited against the revisions straightaway – you have up to 3 years from publication to complete the transition.  Your auditor will work with you to plan your specific transition path in line with your needs and readiness.

What should Alcumus ISOQAR clients who are certified to the 2008 versions of these standards be doing to prepare for themselves for the revisions, and what can they expect in terms of guidance from Alcumus ISOQAR between now and final publication?

Comparison document/ self-audit checklist:

Electronic versions will be sent to all clients and be made available via our website following the publication of the FDIS.

Gap analysis against the FDIS:

If you have any clients who are keen to transition early, but are unsure whether they are ready, we can provide a gap analysis until the release of the PD and against the PD after that. Clients choosing this option will receive a fully updated comparison document highlighting the differences between the FDIS and final published standard so they may address any changes.

We will still carry out the audit against the requirements of the existing 2008 version so customers maintain their current accredited certification but will also provide an assessment report against a checklist to the 2015 FDIS / PD.

Surveillance audit against the new standard:

Accredited certificates will only be available once Alcumus ISOQAR is awarded accreditation by UKAS – expected within 2 or 3 months of final publication.
