Employers are duly reminded that the National Minimum Wage increase takes effect from the 1st October 2012, and the new hourly rates are as follows:
- £6.19 for workers aged 21 and over
- £4.98 for workers aged between 18 and 20
- £3.68 for workers aged between 16 and 17
- £2.65 for apprentices under the age of 19, or and over but in the first year of an apprenticeship
Employers are also reminded that tips and gratuities from customers cannot count towards your workers hourly rate of pay.
