The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently announced proposed changes to the current guidance on risk.
These proposed changes are designed to make sure the way businesses record significant findings helps them manage risk well, and can be part of an existing business document such as method statements, internal procedures etc.
The HSE stated the reason for the changes were concerns that many people see the requirement to record significant findings of a risk assessment as something separate from other things they do to manage their business. They also state that they want to put more emphasis on controlling risk and less on written assessments, without reducing standards.
