Marie-Clare Swallow, MCIPD – Senior HR Consultant

Marie-Claire SwallowMarie-Clare joined Alcumus in January 2012 and is a professional HR generalist with over 20 years’ experience of managing both UK and overseas HR.

Marie-Clare has operational and leadership HR experience. Operationally, Marie-Clare has worked extensively on a wealth of HR disciplines including Performance Management, Grievance, TUPE, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement, HR Policies and Recruitment. She has also delivered training to customers in a number of these areas.

Having worked as part of and with, senior management teams, Marie-Clare has used strategic skills to find solutions and add value to businesses, ensuring business development and growth.

Marie-Clare has experience of industries including manufacturing, service, education, care and retail.


Anil Champaneri, LLB (Hons) – HR Consultant

Anil ChampaneriAnil studied law at Leeds Metropolitan University gaining a 2.1 LLB (Hons) degree and a distinction on the Legal Practice Course. He then trained and qualified as a commercial property solicitor at a legal practice in Manchester city centre before returning to Leeds to work for a medium sized commercial law firm in the city.

Anil retrained in employment law at a North Leeds law firm where he specialised in acting for employees before moving into his consultancy position (as a non-practising solicitor) at Drury PSM (part of the Alcumus Group) in October 2010.

Anil is skilled in many employment disciplines including key areas such as TUPE, performance management, redundancy, discipline and grievance, attendance management and contracts of employment. He has also delivered training to customers in a number of these areas.

Anil has built strong working relationships with his customers and provides excellent service to our HR clients by adding value to their business with practical and commercial advice.

Anil has experience of industries including manufacturing, food, engineering, hospitality and security services.

Jessica Allan, LLB (Hons), Assoc CIPD – Senior HR Consultant

Jessica AllenAfter completing a law degree at Newcastle University and Diploma in Legal Practice, Jessica trained as a solicitor at a medium sized commercial law firm in Leeds, gaining experience in various departments of the practice including employment law.

On qualifying as a solicitor in September 2008, Jessica chose to specialise in employment law and moved to a large multi-national law firm to build on her existing knowledge and experience.

Jessica opted to move into consultancy and moved to Drury PSM (now part of the Alcumus Group) in the summer of 2009.

Jessica’s pragmatic approach and legal training mean she is well placed to advise on issues including disciplinary and grievance issues, dismissals, TUPE, redundancy, changing terms and conditions of employment, sickness and absenteeism. Jessica also has extensive experience of employment tribunals.

Jessica has experience of industries including logistics, manufacturing, care, engineering and retail.

Sally Grundy, MCIPD – 
Senior HR Consultant

Sally GrundySally returned to the consultancy team in 2011 after living and working in the USA for two years.

Sally is well equipped to provide advice across a wide range of industries, and decided to utilise her skills in HR consultancy after a varied HR career in the voluntary housing sector as well as 7 years in Human Resources Management.

During that time, Sally provided a generalist HR management service to 20 UK branches in the service industry, covering 8,000 employees and gained extensive experience of TUPE and employment tribunals.

Sally supports customers with matters including disciplinary, grievance, attendance management, redundancy and TUPE. Sally also delivers training on a variety of HR issues.

Sally has experience of industries including sales, manufacturing, waste management, transport and engineering.


Keith Rhodes BSc CFIOSH – Senior Health & Safety Consultant

Keith RhodesKeith read for his Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology at the University of Leeds. He subsequently enjoyed a 15-year public-sector career, culminating in the post of Senior Lecturer/Consultant in Occupational Health and Safety at Grimsby College. His substantial Health and Safety and teaching knowledge and qualifications have reinforced his work as an examiner and moderator for NEBOSH. On making the decision to specialise in the consultancy side of his work, he has been with the company since September 1998.

Keith is the author of published papers covering a variety of Risk Management and Public Health topics and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Occupational Safety and Health.


Tim Meese, CMIOSH RSP MIIRSM MaPS – Head of Health & Safety Projects

Tim MeeseTim Meese is Head of Health & Safety Projects at Alcumus and has worked for the company for the last 18 years.

Tim has 31 years experience as a health and safety practitioner, having started his professional career in the construction industry, where he has worked for two national construction groups as a Regional Health and Safety Advisor. He joined Sypol Limited during 1995 to work as lead consultant on CDM and construction related consultancy.

Currently, as a senior member of the Alcumus compliance team and Head of Health & Safety Projects, Tim delivers both safety consultancy and safety training to Alcumus customers and is the dedicated Project Manager for a number of multi-international clients. His role includes responsibility for a revenue budget stream, acquiring new business, customer account management and line managing both Alcumus and Associate consultants delivering work for Alcumus in the global marketplace.


Charmaine Ceisa, BSc(Hons) – Health and Safety Advisor

Charmaine CeisaCharmaine’s academic background was in the field of Biomedical Science and graduated from the University of Bedfordshire with a BSc Hons in Biomedical Science in 2008. She worked very shortly in a heamotology laboratory carrying out scientific tests to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Charmaine then joined the company in 2009 as part of the Sypol COSHH Management System (CMS) team.

Charmaine went on to complete a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. Completing this course enabled her to have a broad understanding of health and safety issues and advise companies on how to manage risks in their workplaces. Charmaine has played a role in assisting companies across a variety of sectors ranging from offshore oil and gas to manufacturing and engineering achieve compliance with legislation and best practice. Charmaine is also a part of the quality auditing team. She assesses and reports on the conformance and effective implementation of processes thus contributing to the continual improvement of COSHH Services within the Alcumus Group.


Alexis Barrett CMIOSH MIIRSM  – Senior Health and Safety Consultant

Alexis BarrettAlexis brings a multi-disciplinary, collaborative approach to Health and Safety management and extensive experience having advised a diverse range of businesses across the UK since 1996. Earlier roles with a major tour operator and in housing management coincided with the first rafts of EU legislation which led her to integrate QHS&E requirements with customer needs to maintain and strengthen that business focus.

She designs management systems to merge customer and regulatory requirements and coaches individuals in their implementation. Her enthusiastic, problem-solving approach promotes individual responsibility and team working to improve work conditions, aiming for fewer losses and work-related injuries, and continual improvement across business activities.

Tracy Dodds BSc (Hons), PGDip, CMIOSH – Senior Health and Safety Consultant

Tracy DoddsTracy qualified as an Environmental Health Officer in 1996 and spent the next 12 years educating businesses and enforcing health and safety and food hygiene legislation. Working for various local authorities across the UK gained her knowledge of a wide variety of industries and in her last role she was responsible for managing a team of enforcement officers.

In 2008 Tracy left the local authority sector to sharpen her health and safety skills and experience further as a Senior Health and Safety Consultant, looking after a range of industrial and commercial clients, before taking up a similar post with the company in 2009. She has completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment and assists our clients to meet their legal obligations by providing pragmatic advice and guidance through the establishment of strong working relationships.
