You Can Now Exchange in More Languages!

With Alcumus Info Exchange now used by many of our clients who have an international presence, we are proud to have introduced multi-lingual functionality into our software.

Earlier this year, we introduced 5 European languages to Alcumus Info Exchange.

With more languages coming shortly, we chatted to Adam Hammond, Info Exchange’s product specialist to find out more about how Info Exchange clients can now access this great new functionality.

Adam, you’ve been responsible for working on the new multi-lingual capabilities within Alcumus Info Exchange, tell us a bit more about it…

We are really proud to have developed a true multi-lingual platform, that can be applied throughout our software, including our Remote Forms and Offline App.

We’ve worked tirelessly on this functionality, having taken the decision to develop the translation capabilities fully within our software code and avoid using a plug-in or machine learning translation programme.
We were very much aware of the quality issues that can be found with some of the programmes available and were keen to ensure a high standard of quality in the language translations we provided to our clients and their international user community.

We have partnered with a third-party translation specialist and are really pleased to now offer Info Exchange in French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

So, how can an existing client of Info Exchange access these new languages?
To deploy the functionality within an Exchange, we’re asking all clients interested to contact their Account Manager.

Once an organisation has added multi-lingual to their platform, what does this mean for their user community?
Once the languages requested are added by our configuration team to an Exchange, both the administrator and the user can select which language they would like to use. Administrators can also set a default language for a user.

Once a language is selected by a user, all the modules will be shown in that language, including email notifications. One area however that will not be translated is the free text entered by a user.

So what languages are we planning to implement next?
Now that we have the framework in place, we plan to very quickly roll-out more languages in the coming months, including more complex languages such as Japanese and Chinese Mandarin.
