Marlowe Fire & Security Group is the fire and security division of Marlowe Critical Services, the leader in specialist services to assure the safety and regulatory compliance of commercial properties.
600 staff operate from 12 locations across the UK providing everything from design and installation through to ongoing maintenance to help prevent, detect and monitor customers’ fire and security risks.
Simon Daniels, Head of Compliance and DPO for Marlowe Fire & Security Group, appreciates the significance of ISO certification in the industry. “ISO 9001, 14001 and 18001 is an expectation of our customers,” he says. “Migration to ISO 45001 is under way and the next step in our partnership with ISOQAR.”
“A lot of our work is procured through competitive tender processes where it is simply mandatory that we maintain these certifications,” adds Simon.
“Our ISO certification has not only assisted us in being awarded several major public and commercial sector tenders but also in retaining long term customers whose procurement processes have evolved and now require the confidence that UKAS accredited ISO certification can provide.”
Simon recognises the internal advantages too. “The benefits are far greater than simple commercial gain. We strongly believe the real value of our certification is the focus it places on maintaining, managing and constantly evolving our internal quality, environmental and health and safety management systems. They help us adopt best practice for the benefit of all our internal and external stakeholders.”
Simon continues: “It’s provided individual business units with a shared sense of identity, purpose and belonging. Integrated into our ISO 9001 system is the requirement to clearly communicate our objectives, aims and ambitions to all team members. This helps create a unified culture.”
Regarding implementation, Simon explains: “The ISOQAR Lead Auditor is always on hand to help develop our understanding. We also make use of training from Alcumus Academy, which was part of the rationale in selecting ISOQAR.”
Reflecting on the experience with ISOQAR, Simon concludes: “It’s been nothing short of excellent and this proves to be a challenge with other providers. It’s also been educational - our Lead Auditor is very knowledgeable and has helped us improve our compliance.”
