Course Overview

The Lead Auditor course is designed to provide delegates with the knowledge needed to audit and improve quality management systems. The course comprises of lectures and practical exercises including role-play and case studies, to provide the delegates with a full understanding of the quality audit process. The practical exercises focus on the audit process using the ISO 9001 standards.

Course objectives

The objective of this course is to train delegates in the principles and practices of undertaking quality management system audits in line with the generic guidelines laid down by ISO 19011, and the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

Participants also learn the skills and techniques of auditing and how to communicate the findings of the audit effectively to the management of the auditee organisation. On completion of the course, delegates should also understand the principles of accreditation and certification schemes.

Who is this course for?

This course is designed for company employees who have responsibility within a QMS or will be involved in the auditing of such systems. The course will also benefit people who manage quality or purchasing within their organisations and wish to gain maximum benefit from the quality management system audit process.

Prior Knowledge Required (IRCA 2245)

Before starting this course delegates are expected to have knowledge of the following quality management principles & concepts:
 

  1. The Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) Cycle

  2. The relationship between quality management and customer satisfaction

  3. Commonly used quality management terms and definitions and the 7 principles as given in ISO 9001 systems

  4. The process approach used in quality management

  5. The 'Model of a Process Based Quality Management System'; the structure and content of ISO 9001

  6. Knowledge of the requirements of ISO 9001, which may be gained by completing an IRCA certified QMS Foundation Training Course, or equivalent.

Duration

This is a five day course. 

 

Course Tutors 

This course will be conducted by quality specialists who are registered with the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA) as Lead Auditors, and who have a hands on experience of certification auditing and the requirements of quality systems. Their experience and knowledge of all aspects of audit and quality management systems provides a valuable bonus to delegates as this experience can be passed on during formal sessions and informal discussions.
