UKAS accredited certification - Expert auditors - A consistent and professional service - Global as well as UK
ISO 9001 is the world’s most recognised quality management standard and is used in over one million organisations globally. Essentially, it provides a management framework to improve business practices
and helps you to provide services and products that meet your customers’ expectations.
The standard is based on a number of quality management principles and prescribes systematic control of the processes that your business uses. Designed and intended to apply to virtually any manufacturing process or service, ISO 9001 can help your organisation to become more efficient and perform better through improved
customer satisfaction, staff motivation and continual improvement.
Improved employee engagement as a result of defining their key roles and responsibilities and encouraging effective internal communications.
Cost saving achieved through streamlining business processes, reducing waste and improving the quality of your management systems.
Increased customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements consistently. The continual improvement focus of ISO 9001 helps ensure that you are continually responding to and meeting the ever-changing needs of your customers.
When implementing an ISO 9001 management standard many organisations seek certification by a UKAS accredited certification body. ISO 9001 helps organisations to qualify for a tender or to achieve preferred supplier status – attracting new customers, particularly from larger companies and relies on providing assurance that you can demonstrate compliance with proven international business practices and appropriate standards. Many businesses choose to trade with companies who comply with recognised standards ahead of those who don’t. So, why is this?
Shows commitment and the right attitude to providing a high level of customer satisfaction and willingness to improve efficiency
Demonstrates the existence of an effective quality management system that satisfies the rigours of an independent, external audit
Will boost your organisation’s brand reputation and can be a useful promotional tool, especially when going up against competitors who aren’t certified
Once you decide to implement ISO 9001, the first step is to learn about its best practice recommendations and compare these to your existing processes. This will help you identify any gaps or weaknesses in your current quality management systems, and give practical advice on how to improve.
There are two main options for this stage – you can get one of our starter packs, or you can hire an ISO 9001 consultant to guide you through the process.
The next step is to plan how to introduce the key principles of quality management into your organisation.
Update or renew your processes according to the guidelines set out in the ISO 9001 standard, then communicate the changes internally. If you need extra support during this stage, an ISO 9001 consultant will be able to advise you and provide you with a gap analysis pre-assessment to make sure you’re ready for certification.
Once you and your consultant are satisfied that your quality management processes align with the principles set out in ISO 9001, it’s time to book your certification.
We will complete a full audit of your business processes. If they meet the requirements of ISO 9001, we will then issue you with ISO 9001 certification.
In 2015, ISO 9001 was revised to make it more relevant to the current marketplace.
Once an ISO standard is updated, ISO allow 3 years for organisations to transition their certification to the new standard.
This means the deadline to transition your ISO 9001 certification is 15 September 2018.
There’s not much time left to transition, so get started on as soon as possible to make sure you don’t lose your certification.
If you are currently with another certification provider, you can transfer to Alcumus ISOQAR with no break in your certification. We make transferring your ISO certification convenient, and there is no fee to transfer!
