What is BS EN 1090?

If you manufacture and sell structural steel or aluminium components to be sold in the UK or EU, you’re legally required to be BS EN 1090 certified and you must CE mark your products.

It’s a criminal offence to supply and trade structural metalwork on the UK and EU market unless it adheres to BS EN 1090 and carries a legitimate CE mark. CE Marking is a requirement of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). CE Marking is regulated by criminal law and the penalties for not adhering to this mandate may result in product recall, fines or even imprisonment.

Alcumus ISOQAR can provide certification to BS EN 1090 and, from January 2021, the new UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking. This is a new UK product marking that will be used for goods placed on the market in Great Britain.

We can also offer UKAS accredited certification to other complementary standards such as ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental Management. They add value to your BS EN 1090 certification, helping you win and retain more business.
